Art Week 2026 Recap: Art, Bitcoin & Web3 in Conversation

Updated: Apr 9

During Art Week Mexico City 2026, Mexico City once again became a global meeting point for contemporary art, experimentation, and cultural dialogue. Among the many events that shaped this year’s edition, one of the most thought provoking conversations emerged within Subreal Art Week 2026, where art and technology intersected in meaningful ways.

As part of this program, Las Flores hosted the panel “Art, Bitcoin & Web3”, bringing together artists, builders, and cultural leaders to explore how decentralized technologies are actively reshaping the creative landscape.

A Space for Reflection and Expansion

Held on February 7, the panel created a dynamic environment where attendees engaged with ideas around tokenization, digital ownership, intellectual property, and evolving models of value in the arts. Rather than positioning technology as a trend, the conversation grounded it as a structural shift, one that is already influencing how art is created, distributed, and experienced.

The session attracted a diverse audience of artists, collectors, technologists, and curious participants, all seeking to better understand the implications of Bitcoin and Web3 within cultural production.

Voices Shaping the Future of Art

The panel featured a group of speakers whose practices sit at the intersection of creativity, technology, and community:

Andrea Deković

As the founder of Las Flores, Andrea brought a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by her work across film, blockchain, and education. She spoke about the importance of building ecosystems that empower creators, as well as the role of community in driving Web3 adoption within the arts.

SCUM

Offering the perspective of a leading digital artist, SCUM discussed the evolution of NFTs beyond speculation, highlighting their potential as tools for storytelling, world building, and environmental impact through initiatives tied to conservation.

Gio Mantis

Gio reflected on bridging physical and digital art practices, sharing how blockchain technologies can support artistic activism and expand the reach of culturally rooted work on a global scale.

Wen Lopez

Wen shared insights from her experience scaling Web3 and Bitcoin adoption across Latin America, emphasizing the importance of accessibility, creator led narratives, and culturally relevant strategies for onboarding new audiences.

Beyond the Panel

What made this conversation particularly relevant was its ability to move beyond theory. The panel emphasized real use cases, ongoing experiments, and the lived experiences of artists navigating this transition.

More importantly, it opened a critical dialogue: not only about what is possible with these technologies, but also about what should be built, who benefits, and how to ensure that innovation remains inclusive and intentional.

A Defining Moment Within Art Week

As Art Week continues to evolve, moments like this panel signal a broader shift in the cultural landscape. The integration of Bitcoin and Web3 into artistic practice is no longer peripheral, it is becoming part of the core conversation.

The Art, Bitcoin & Web3 panel by Las Flores stood out as a space where disciplines converged, assumptions were challenged, and new possibilities began to take shape, leaving a lasting impression on this year’s edition.
